anode is -vely charged so has excess electron and cathod is +vely charged as unlike charge attract each other electron and cathode attract each other ellectron has negligible weight so it move towards cathode current is a flow of electron but by convention the flow of current is taken in direction opposite to flow of electron as in earlier time it was believed that current is flow of +ve charge
