Alok singh asks : "Ants X and Y are both climbing up around a cylindrical Pipe. Both start at same point on the ground, X moves clockwise and Y anticlockwise. Before they reach at top X has made 5 complete twists and Y 3 twists. Not counting the bottom and the top, how many times do they cross each other?" plz explain it,dont just give answer "7".

see cylinder as 2-plane areas back and front. X will make 3 straight lines on front plane and 2 on back, a total of 5. And Y thus will make a total of 9 lines. now taking the average of both we will get the mean no. of times the both lines will be cut by each other.
