'Time of Crossing ' means the time between the instances when the engines meet and the the instance when the end of the last compartments meet total distance to be covered by each train:(60+80)m=140m relative velocity:(50+40)m/s=90m/s therefore, time taken=140/90s=1.56s now if u want to find the total time taken by each train to cross the other then add (100/50=2s) and (100/40=2.5s)respectively to 1.56 to get the ans

Instantaneous speed is the speed at a particular moment in time. On a Speed-Time graph, the instantaneous speed can be taken from any point which lies on the line. If the speed is not constant then the the tangent a particular point on a distance time graph gives the instantaneous speed at that time...
